Whether you’re a GOP or progressive, liberal or conservative, the blogosphere is a hype with postings about MSNBC’s coverage of the DNC. It seems everyone’s blogging their opinion out on waves, the Internet ocean full of information. I’d like to think I still know how to be objective. However, we are all morally superior in our own minds then reality allows. Yet, I too feel I must throw my hat in this ring. I’d like to applaud my liberal base for being objective BUT some of the liberal blogs have been as harsh and unrelenting as their conservative counterparts. Objectivity seemingly won the day on this account. Or is this the case, are these newscasters, Olbermann and Matthews, just telling it like it is? Are we being too harsh? Because one speaks truth, Matthews said referring to Cheney Wednesday night, I don’t have enough evidence to start this war; get some’ – “I bet that’s a call that’s been made to the CIA,” Doesn’t the evidence point to this conclusion? What’s wrong with someone saying it?
Now this begs the question, “When the roles are reversed does this same objectivity apply?” When Bill “O” goes off on his rants (Malmedy)or Rush Limbaugh spews bias comentary on the airways, (like his “phony soldiers” or “Operation Chaos”), are the conservatives just as objective? When Fox Noise puts another coin in the conservative bucket does their party, “the republican base,” call them on it? The simple answer is, NO! The hits, attacks and pure hatred from the neocon base spew across the airways at a steady unrelenting pace and it’s been happening for so long now we hardly even notice. Much less even try and rebut or critique it. This is the ultimate double standard. As you might have guessed I’m no friend of Fox, Hannity, or Bill Oreilly, but I do see where they have their place in society. This country with it’s diverse heritage, opinions, and views, is a free nation with enough room for all these talking heads to coexist.
Maybe the time has come for a “liberal alternative,” something that can combat the neocon propaganda machine, Fox News. For years now during election time the right hits hard and utilizes it’s control of the corporate media to attack the other side. As Olbermann and Matthews say throwing “red meat” out to excite the conservative base and fire them up. After having a few days to reflect on the coverage by MSNBC maybe it’s a good thing we have a voice now, a few talking heads of our own, who can throw back a little of that “red meat.” For far too long we’ve had “no voice,” or “representatives,” on our side of this debate. Aren’t they saying a few things you’d love to say? Are they not going far enough? If you had a platform to express your frustration over the past 8 years what would say? How would you emphasize your frustration?
So, is MSNBC lost with out a leader? NO! Maybe they won’t carry on in the tradition of Tim Russert but what we will gain in return might be more valuable then we realize at this point. Looking back now, I say hit them harder, hit them low, they deserve it and the American people deserve a voice. We know full and well how dirty they’re going to start playing and I say it’s about time we had something to even out the playing field!
Martial Law at the DNC- Democratic National Camps
This one needs to be watched twice or even three times folks.
Observe the blunt force and velocity at which the baton strikes this woman. The force/velocity must be around 300-350 pounds per square inch.
Modern Definition of Martial Law:
Martial law is when military-like actions are taken upon a nations own citizens and constitutional and human rights are violated on a regular basis as part of a standard operating procedure (SOP).
It is when you cannot protest without a “permit” and your freedom of speech is silenced.
It is basically what they call a “police state”. It is when the “police” are trained by and act like federal officials/military police rather than the civilian peace keepers they are supposed to be.
It is when random AND permanent checkpoints are set up by Homeland Security and police officers like they have now all over the country especially along interstate-highway 8 and 10.
Many believe that martial law is ONLY when the actual Army and/or Marines/ National Guard patrol the streets but this is incorrect as these troops are committed in Iraq and Afghanistan and attending to the other 1100 U.S. military bases that are outside of the U.S.
Homeland Security and the local police departments have been trained by federal agents and are federal agents and in these modern times are now enforcing obvious martial law.
The days of the Army rolling down the street in tanks is over as it is unnecessary because the U.S. citizens have been pacified enough and Homeland Security and the Police have been trained and armed enough to where this would surely be over-kill.
Besides there are US National Guard bases in the majority of 30,000+ population towns and the troops are committed overseas.
A basic example of Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for martial law would be the internment camps they have set-up in Colorado in preparation for the Democratic National Convention (DNC).
If the country was not under martial law setting up these kind of warehouse-style camps which are being hidden from the media and the citizens would not be permitted by the city, county or state.
There are videos and information available on YouTube and other places on the net about these camps and I also have a video which I will attach to this one.
So this is a basic explanation of Marital Law as it exists in the 21st century.
ANOTHER indication of Martial Law enacted is:
Watch a White House press conference/interview and/or go to your local court house and peak inside a court room and look at the American Flag.
You will notice that the flag will have gold tassel around it’s borders. If you understand this and have any education in these matters you would know in fact that it is a Federal Crime to attach ANYTHING to the American Flag.
The ONLY thing that can be attached to the American Flag by Federal law under penalty of prosecution are GOLD TASSELS and they can ONLY be attached in the case of MARTIAL LAW ordered by the President of the United States of America.
Of course under martial law information, education, news, networks and the internet (as seen nightly on FOX news and CNN) are censored therefor research on this subject is not the easiest although it can be done.
There is no doubt the movement by the people is meant to be a peaceful one and that’s the ideology of the masses. But the way this government has position itself suggests a much more combative rebellion. Rex 84, Patriot Act, Military Commissions Act, Presidential Directive 12, the elimination of the Posse Comitatus Act, suspension habeas corpus, FISA, Presidential Directive 51, FEMA camps, The Detention of American Citizens as Enemy Combatants http://www.fas.org/irp/crs/RL31724.pdf, the new Operation Northwoods “Iraq” and so many other policies that have limited our ability to resist what is coming. The pieces are stacked and this house of cards will fall, the manner in which is yet to be determined. The King is in his counting house, counting down, counting down, counting………
To draw a distinction between this administration and the Nazism rule not so long ago, “is” a hard line to connect. Often times it’s what is done in plain sight that often gets over looked. A certain immunity from criticism that takes place when change is implemented gradually over a long period of time. I know you’ve heard the line I use about American airport security. That it’s common place to see military force, strong police presence, Air Marshals and machine guns, and this gives Americans a sense of security. “How safe I feel,” they say, what an Orwellian thought. Oblivious that one day that same might could be turned on us, that we are just being conditioned. Did the Germans feel this same false sense of security? Are we so blind we can’t see it’s happening to us? When I think of the secret service, I see the S.S. Remember the Bush Directive 51? You know Hitler was the original author, same name, same objective. Have you read it? http://www.feldgrau.com/dir51.html http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2007/05/20070509-12.html
Through the principle of indemnity, Hitler killed 6 million Jews, so much for Homeland Security. I can’t seem to find a distinction. They both thought they were called upon by “GOD” to lead. Have you every wondered where Bush got his idea for his “faith-base initiatives” I believe it to be Hitlers January 30, 1939 speech to the Reichstag. The Fuhrer began, “Amongst the accusations which are directed against Germany in the so-called democracy is the charge that the National Socialist State is hostile to religion.” He continued, “public monies diverted from taxation through the State have been placed at the disposal of both Churches (Protestant and Catholic).” Hitler gave almost 1.8 billion Reichstag’s between 1938-39 to Christian churches.
Hitler also noted, “With a tenth of our budget for religion, we would thus have a Church devoted to the State and of unshakable loyalty. . . . the little sects, which receive only a few hundred thousand marks, are devoted to us body and soul.”
The comparisons are too numerous and with the transitory nature of our memories this time will be forgotten and the outcome that prevails will be depicted and skewed by the victors of this era. Yet call me a “hopeless optimist” {LOL} I still believe there is time to change this most dangerous course of events, but will we take up this endeavor? Recollecting Pastor Martin Niemöller’s famous poem, this is the variation I admire best.
They came first for the Communists,
and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Communist.
Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Jew.
Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Catholics,
and I didn’t speak up because I was a Protestant.
Then they came for me,
and by that time no one was left to speak up.
Here we go again,
Matthews said something like “don’t make that sound Keith; I believe it and I said it”; However he got flustered and meant the hand movement Keith Olbermann had made. {not sound} He was mocking Keith with this hand movement. Chris is way out of line here! What the heck is going on at MSNBC? Matthews just cut Olbermann off to go to Andrea Mitchell. WOW
I have waited for this night for months now and usually prefer MSNBC’s coverage above all others as you might have guessed I’m what most consider to be a “Liberal”. However I choose not to label myself as such. People are often times more complex then the labels and definitions will allow for. At the beginning of the coverage right out of the batting box, Keith Olbermann’s introduction,“I’m Keith Olbermann, he’s Chris Matthews” Matthews: “I’m Chris Matthews” Olbermann rebutted, “I said that already!” It was uncomfortable to watch from the very beginning. As the night moved on I wondered if the rumor mill spawned by the right wing bloggers pined it right with their sentiments about the atmosphere over at MSNBC. “This <news business> is great if you’re paranoid” Olbermann stated, and his mannerisms reflected a man with personal knowledge that his colleagues despise him.
Chris Matthews performance was less entertaining then the wistful dance his come over rendered throughout the night. His flushed beat red face made one wonder if he’d be needing medical intervention at some point before nights end. While interviewing Bill Maher, Matthews inquired, that if McCain had Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty as his running mate, what chances would that ticket have with such an odd sounding name. Maher snapped back, “you’d have to ask Barack Obama.” Matthews reacted as if that had never occurred to him with his infamous tone deaf laugh.
Joe Scarborough made his expected appearance and began spewing business as usual with his talking points straight from John McCain’s campaigner play book. Either it was an intended off mic comment or an intentional jab at Scarborogh, Keith Olbermann interrupted, “Jesus Joe, why don’t you get a shovel.” Scarborough not able to grasp the concept of what Keith implied took the conversation in the wrong direction. However it didn’t slip by Matthews who ended the segment with, “Well, are we done? Shovel for Shovel.” Probably the most witty statement of the night. Scarborough with time to reflect over night pounced on David Shuster this morning. Scarborough mocked Shuster’s claim to be an independent rather than a Democrat — “I bet everyone at MSNBC has ‘Independent’ on their voting cards. Oh, we’re down the middle now!”; then he chastised his colleague for repeatedly failing to show up for Morning Joe broadcasts. “You didn’t show up three times in a row. Three times you slept through your alarm and not came [sic] on this show. Undoubtedly making Shuster the whipping boy for Matthews and Olbermann.
Luke Russert debut as the youth representative in their news coverage. Awkward and out of his element are the words that come to mind. Olbermann had to stop Matthews from interrupting Russert and I could feel the tension from my comfortable spot on the couch. This looming unpleasantness only magnified by Tom Brokaw’s assessment of Russert’s performance. Olbermann chuckled, I know I’m thinking the same thing. Olbermann referring to the pride he felt towards Luke. However Brokaw’s chuckling at the beginning of the interim reminded me of a mocking sentiment towards the coverage Olbermann and Matthews where providing us viewers. This on the heals of a statement from this past week where Brokaw stated Matthews and Olbermann had, “gone too far” in their coverage of the 2008 election.
Between the technical difficulties and the shocking statements like Olbermann’s admission, I’m beginning to sound borderline sycophantic on this” it did make for a most interesting night. I still long for a unbiased reporter like the late great Tim Russert and wonder if MSNBC is turning into the liberal alternative to Fox News. With all the conservative voices on the other networks maybe America does have room for this suggestive journalism. What do you think?
As in every historical era known to man this age will be named. What are your feelings and ideas as to what this day and age will be known as? Keep in mind some of the past ages; Stone age, Bronze age, Medieval Ages “Dark age”, Renaissance, Industrial age, etc.. Reflecting upon what we already know, what is the appropriate term for this age?
I am already preparing for the onslaught of criticism that I’m certain my point of view will generate. No fact I offer about my background, motivation or experience will serve to support a reprieve. Still, it is time to point out some simple truths. In this critical time of immense difficulty and economic struggle facing those of us who live in “Middle-Town”, it’s no wonder we might gravitate towards “The One”, who claims to represent change. The ongoing disintegration of our quality of life drives our desire and perceived need for a change. Is Obama, who has anointed himself “The One”, the catalyst for this much needed change, reality, or merely a figment of our over active imaginations?
Unlike most political figures who have emerged in this presidential election, Obama’s newness to the political spectrum leaves no option for a historical fact check into his claims as the “change candidate.” As a one time supporter who has become more and more disillusioned, the only real change I’ve seen, is his position on issues that matter to me. Whether he shifts on FISA or offshore drilling, this change candidate has proven his ability to adjust stance with a facile ease that is positively Nixonian. This has less to do with “The One”, being bi-partisan and more likely indicates a tendency for being bi-polar.
Joking aside, shifting his stance on these issues is most likely a reflection of “The One’s” perception of the polls and his fear of John McCain’s ability to resonate with the common man’s pocket book. Even though it has been stated that offshore drilling would NOT effect the price of oil, John McCain has struck a cord. In their rush to the middle, both are relinquishing the distinctions between them. And we are served up Obamacain.
Fifty years ago there was a politician with the courage to take on corrupt governmental programs. He had the courage to fire Allen Dulles, head of the CIA and navigate this nation through the Cuban Missile Crisis. Many today try to draw a comparison between John F. Kennedy and Barack Obama. But before you buy into the image that Obama is “The One”, to restore Camelot, please step back and reflect on the words of Cass Sunstein, surrogate and legal adviser to Barack Obama. Last week Sunstein said, only the most egregious crimes in this Bush administration should and would be prosecuted. As the Nation pointed out, Sunstein argued, “Prosecuting government officials risks a “cycle” of criminalizing public service.” Now ask yourself, is this a position John F. Kennedy would have taken? Sadly the era of Camelot ended in Dallas, Barack Obama has proven an unworthy successor.
I have contemplated for some time wondering if our political leaders are merely puppets of the powerful elite. This concept is only reinforced by Obama’s sudden appearance in this presidential arena. His wife’s membership in the CFR, his ties to powerful figures and his premature and fawning endorsement by the corporate media all cause one to wonder if he is truly “The One”. Or is he merely this season’s “token black man” in yet “Another Scary Movie”? But this movie is very real and has dire consequences. It begs the question, as one might say, did the elite stack the deck? Most people at this point know the connections between the Clintons and the elite. Have we missed those elite connections with this man, Barack? Could this explain the media black out on the honest, trust worthy politician’s like; Mike Gravel, Denise Kucinich and Ron Paul during this nomination process? Any suspicion I harbored about the control and influence on information by the corporate media has been magnified in this election cycle.
Barack Obama has proven to some of his one time supporters he is “The One,” the candidate of change.
Since Spring the Democratic nominee has changed so much he is no longer the man he appeared to be when I supported himjust a few short months ago. Rather he has proven to me he is ”The One” I will not vote for in the fall.
